It is a branch of Public Law that aims to study the rules relating to the fundamental structure of the State, the functions of the different bodies or entities that make it up: Public Powers, and their relationships among themselves and with citizens. . It covers everything related to the form of the State, the government, as well as the principles, guarantees and fundamental rights of people and the regulation of Public Powers.
It is based on the Constitution of the Republic, also called Magna Carta, which is the fundamental pillar of the legal order of a State, which prevails and is above any other law.
In Venezuela, the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela has been in force since December 1999, which in its article 7 establishes it as “the supreme norm and the foundation of the legal system, to which all people and bodies those who exercise Public Power are subject.”
